Any person who is studying or doing a doctorate in Freising at the Technical University of Munich or at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, and who identifies with the purposes and goals of the Club Ausländischer Weihenstephaner, can become a member of the CAW. The application for admission is made in writing to the CAW Board. In recent years, this has usually been done in short form on a beverage coaster.
After that, the candidate is invited to the entrance examination. This takes place once a semester as part of a CAW event, for example, at our St Nicholas party. The aim of the entrance examination is to introduce the candidate to the other student members. For the introduction, a song must be sung in one's own mother tongue, and for the initiation, a yard of ale must be drunk together with another candidate. The third part of the entrance examination varies, but is always related to Freising and the activities of the CAW. It could be a scavenger hunt, a beer tasting or writing an article for the CAW annual report.
The entrance exam always focuses on fun and fellowship. In addition, the tasks can be individually adapted to the candidate, for example by filling the Yard of Ale with a non-alcoholic drink.
Interested? Then visit our regulars' table or one of our events and talk to us. You are also welcome to familiarise yourself with the statutes of the Club Ausländischer Weihenstephaner to learn more about the CAW!
